COMUN started in 2016 as a one-day conference in the town hall of Gouda. During the following years, the conference grew, and became COMUN became a well-known name internationally. In the year 2020, it was decided that the conference had grown too big for a one-day conference, so we decided to take our conference to the next level by organizing a full, 3-day, conference. This change was a great success and since then we have been building upon those past successes to bring you an even better conference every year.

COMUN stands for Coornhert Model United Nations. At a MUN conference, the delegates each represent a country in a formal, international conference. This conference will resemble those of the real United Nations as closely as possible. During the conference, the delegates will discuss real-world problems from the point of view of the countries that they represent. At the end of the conference, the delegates will have found new and innovative solutions to the real-world problems they discussed.

This engaging debate gives you a very entertaining and educational weekend. You get familiar with global issues, learn to speak in public, will become acquainted with diplomacy and negotiations and you will meet a lot of new people.
